Fungal disease
Spider Plant Fungal Leaf Spot
Small brown or black spots on spider plant leaves, caused by fungi on leaves that stay damp.

Symptoms
- Small brown or black spots, often with a yellow halo
- Spots merging into larger brown patches
- Yellowing of badly affected leaves
What causes it
Fungal spores need moisture on the leaf; misting, overhead watering and poor air flow help them spread.
What you can do
- Remove badly affected leaves with clean scissors and bin them rather than composting.
- Water the soil, not the leaves, and water in the morning so any splashes dry quickly.
- Give the plant space and good air flow; avoid crowding it against other plants.
- Avoid misting while the spots are active.
