Spider Plant Leaf Tip Necrosis
Also known as Brown leaf tips
Brown, dead leaf tips on spider plants, usually caused by water quality, salt build-up or uneven watering.

Symptoms
- Brown or black tips on the leaves
- Browning that slowly creeps further down the leaf
- Yellow bands just behind the brown tip
What causes it
Spider plants are sensitive to fluoride, chlorine and salts in tap water and fertiliser, dry air and irregular watering.
What you can do
- Use rainwater or filtered water where you can.
- Flush the pot with plenty of water every few months to wash out salts.
- Feed lightly and water evenly, without letting the mix dry out completely.
- Trim the brown tips with clean scissors, following the leaf shape.
