Fungal disease
Tomato Target Spot
A fungal disease that causes ringed brown spots on tomato leaves and fruit in warm, humid weather.

Symptoms
- Brown spots with rings and a yellow halo
- Spots on leaves at any height, and on the fruit
- Leaves dying and dropping when spots merge
What causes it
The fungus survives on plant debris and spreads in warm, humid conditions with long leaf wetness.
What you can do
- Give the plant space and good air flow; avoid crowding it against other plants.
- Remove lower leaves and any affected leaves.
- Water the soil, not the leaves, and water in the morning so any splashes dry quickly.
- Do not grow the same crop in the same spot next year; rotate beds for two to three years.
