Fungal disease
Strawberry Leaf Scorch
A fungal disease that covers strawberry leaves in small purple spots until they look burnt.

Symptoms
- Many small, irregular purple spots on the leaves
- Spots merging until the leaf looks scorched
- Leaves drying and curling up at the edges
What causes it
The fungus survives on old leaves and spreads by splashing water in warm, wet weather.
What you can do
- Remove old and infected leaves after harvest.
- Water the soil, not the leaves, and water in the morning so any splashes dry quickly.
- Replace beds every three to four years with healthy plants.
- Choose resistant varieties.
